]]> Thu, 26 Mar 2026 13:34:28 GMT https://www.chaucer.sheffield.sch.uk/y11revision26 <![CDATA[ Sheffield City Council - MenACWY Information ]]> https://www.chaucer.sheffield.sch.uk/scc200326 In light of the recent cases of invasive meningococcal disease reported in Kent, Sheffield public health services are reminding parents and carers about the importance of ensuring children and young people are up to date with routine vaccinations.

For secondary school and sixth form-aged students, we are particularly highlighting the importance of the MenACWY vaccine, which protects against four strains of meningococcal bacteria (A, C, W and Y) that can cause meningitis and sepsis. Young people this age should also have their Td/IPV vaccine (teenage booster which reinforces protection against tetanus, diphtheria and polio), and their HPV vaccine (which protects against human papillomavirus, a virus that can lead to several types of cancer).

Over the last academic year, 141 students completed either Bike Maintenance, Horticulture, Furniture Restoration, or Tiling and Bricklaying sessions with Mr Wriggleworth as part of internal alternative provision sessions over 8 weeks.

The sun has been shining. We ate French toast and dippy eggs for breakfast (thank you, Dillon, Lexi, Cain and Lilly!) We were very productive weighing the lambs, building a fence and collecting eggs.

Ashley, Drew and Ezekiel made us a delicious lunch!

Tonight we are looking forward to a campfire and tasty dinner made by Lexi.

This afternoon we went to the border with Wales to go on an adventure hike. Everyone was very strong and managed the whole way! We got to eat tasty cookies on our way made by Lilly and Cain, thanks guys!

We have had a fantastic day in the sunshine doing lots of different jobs.

Ashley, Drew and Charlene made us a fantastic cooked breakfast. Lexi and Dillon made us pizza for lunch.

Ezekiel bravely made friends with lots of animals. There was a lot of sheep drama, but they all made it to the right place in the end. Well done team!

We all had a lot of fun on the walk this evening too.

To apply for Free School Meals (FSM) in Sheffield, you can apply online through Sheffield City Council's website, or if you need assistance please call the FSM Helpline on 0114 273 4567 (option 4, then option 3). You will need your child's and your own details, including National Insurance (NI) number, and you can apply for up to five children at once.

From Wednesday the 3rd of September, we expect every child to be fully equipped every day. Students arriving at form time in the morning without a pen, pencil and ruler will receive a detention. Pens, pencils and rulers will be available to buy for 10p each at Student Services each morning.

We know that being ready to learn every day improves student ability to make progress, and we expect students to take responsibility for this.
